The Choir

Melbourne (Derbyshire) mixed voice (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass) choir.

Formed in 2009 by a small group of singing enthusiasts who got together for a 'come and sing' event at the Melbourne Arts Festival.

We are a mixed choir of approximately seventy members, two thirds female, one third male. We are very friendly and welcoming. Our repertoire is eclectic. It ranges from Abba to Opera, Handel to Leonard Cohen. Our inaugural concert in Spring 2010 sold out to a local audience. We have subsequently performed many times during the Melbourne Arts Festival and we also have regular concerts throughout the year. Our Christmas concerts include an opportunity for the audience to 'join in'.

Singing brings us great pleasure and we hope that is transmitted and shared with our audiences. Please join us at any of our concerts. We will be delighted to see you there.

Under the musical direction of Paul Marshall, our third MD, we perform regularly in Melbourne three times per year. We also perform in other venues and by invitation.

Opera Babes!

We have had the pleasure of working regularly with Karen England, of the Opera Babes and on occasions with both Karen and Rebecca. 2016 sees us working with Karen again, this time in collaboration with the Dalesmen Males Voice Choir, Berberi String Quartet and the Derventio Brass Ensemble. Information for the Opera Babes can be found on their Facebook page.

This Year's Diary

2016 sees us preparing our Spring concert and HM The Queens Birthday celebration at Derby Cathedral. The Spring concern in Melbourne will see us singing songs from the shows. To see the events we have to come, please visit our diary here.

Tickets are available on line for both events. Click Here (this will take you to an external site).---->June Concert.

The Choir welcomes enquiries about membership. Currently we are having to operate a waiting list for the Alto section. Bass, Soprano and Tenor enquiries will be dealt with on an as is basis.
